RIEK
Ibero-American Network for the Study of Hans Kelsen and the Vienna School of Legal Theory
The RIEK Network is an international academic network committed to promoting research on and disseminating the thought of Hans Kelsen and the Vienna School of Legal Theory throughout the Ibero-American academic community.
Its purpose is to establish and consolidate a stable academic platform that connects universities, research centers, and scholars in legal theory, thereby promoting scholarly exchange, international cooperation, and the development of long-term research and publishing initiatives.
The RIEK Network is organized as a federated structure composed of national and regional chapters operating within a shared institutional framework. Each chapter carries out its own academic initiatives while remaining consistent with the overarching purposes of the Network.
The First RIEK Conference took place on February 4–6, 2026, in Bogotá and Medellín, Colombia. The Second Conference is currently being organized.
The RIEK Network seeks to establish itself within the Ibero-American academic sphere as a central reference for research on Hans Kelsen and on the leading figures of the Vienna School of Legal Theory, while promoting sustained academic dialogue between Europe and Latin America.
